Dear Sir or Madam
I am writing to you in application for the English lecturer’s post. I have been until recently teaching at Prince Sultan University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, but have decided to look for a different challenge and working environment at this stage of my career. I have nine years’ experience in ESL as a teacher and supervisor, four years of which have been in the tertiary sector. In terms of qualifications, I have recently completed an MSc in Educational Leadership through the University of Leicester (graduation on the 17th of July 2015). My dissertation topic was based on human resource management in education, which involved the study of how recruitment, selection, development and retention policy affects motivation of ESL teachers in a Saudi university setting. I have since presented my research findings at a PSU conference and would like to do further research in this area of education.
Curriculum design was a major part of my post-graduate studies and I have extensive experience in this area of education, having been part of a curriculum design team at Saad School in Saudi Arabia. I have taught academic reading, writing , listening and speaking, specifically expository and persuasive writing during my time at Ibris College of Applied Sciences and Prince Sultan University, a role I have enjoyed immensely. I possess strong work ethics, operating equally effectively as part of a team or individually. My philosophy of education is student centred, communicative and objectives based. One of my fundamental motivations for being a teacher is to be a facilitator of student achievement. I have worked as an educational supervisor and in that capacity regularly ran teacher training workshops. I would be pleased to discuss my application further at your convenience and would also be willing to travel this summer for a formal interview on request. I look forward to your feedback in the near future.
